The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, FL
TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE The Ten Thousand Islands is located in Collier County, Florida. The Wildlife Refuge was established in 1996 and encompasses approximately 35,000 acres. Two thirds of the region are covered in mangroves and collectively is one of the largest mangrove forests in North America. It is a nature lover and photographer’s paradise. The Ten Thousand Islands is home to roughly 200 species of fish and almost as many species of birds. The Ten Thousand Islands has a rich history; it was occupied by Native Americans for over three thousand years. It was also a hideout in the late 1800’s for military deserters and other outlaws. It later became a drug trafficking point due to its isolation and geography. I have had the good fortune to fly low and slow in an experimental airplane over the Islands. From the sky it looks like a jigsaw puzzle. I have spent countless days exploring the region in my little Gheenoe boat, this is one of my favorite places to go to get away from it all. As a photographer, my favorite subjects include some of the old, weathered, lone mangroves of the region. They sometimes look like sea creatures that are guarding the islands. Navigating this maze of mangrove islands and shallow oyster beds is challenging; even with a GPS and compass, I still have gotten turned around. Summer is my favorite time of year to photograph there when the clouds are at their most spectacular and look as though they are coming down to touch the sea. This is also the time of year when the mosquitoes and no-seeums are the most voracious. If you go, bring bug spray and plenty of sunscreen. Many of these images were created with an 8x10 in wooden view camera and large format film.
Loose prints are available on high quality paper, printed to the very high standards by the artist. They will have approximately a half inch reveal where the image will be signed and labeled. The dimensions will be to the outside of the paper. They can be matted, mounted and framed by your local framer. All images will be cropped by the artist to fit the dimension.
Matted and Mounted
My matted and mounted images are mounted to an archival backer board, typically cold mounted with Coda Cold Mount 1 adhesive. An archival white mat is then adhered over top of the image with a 4in border and then a 1/2in paper border, allowing space for signature and title on the image, creating the look of a double border. The dimensions are to the outside of the matt and backer, not the image which will be approximately 10in smaller in each direction. They will be ready to frame by your local framer. All images will be cropped by the artist to fit the dimension.
This is a very contemporary look created by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. The surface is extremely durable, the colors are vibrant and the images take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch resistant surface is waterproof and can be cleaned easily. I recommend a luster finish but high gloss and matt are available. They include a rear mounting frame and are ready to hang. All images will be cropped by the artist to fit the dimension.
Acrylic Face Mount
We offer acrylic prints (PlexiMounts) in gloss. The gloss acrylic comes in 1/4". All our acrylic prints are back mounted using DiBond an aluminum composite material. Acrylic Photo Prints come with a fully integrated aluminum frame brace hanging system. All images will be cropped by the artist to fit the dimension.
Our gallery farming option is a ready to hang museum look. The frame is a black aluminum and the glazing is acrylic. The image is matted and mounted to an archival backer board, typically cold mounted with Coda Cold Mount 1 adhesive. An archival white mat is then adhered over top of the image with a 4in border and then a 1/2in paper border, allowing space for signature and title on the image, creating the look of a double border. The dimensions are to the outside of the matt and backer, not the image which will be approximately 10in smaller in each direction. All images will be cropped by the artist to fit the dimension.

My Print Options We are proud to offer our images in several styles and mounts. The available print options are shown beneath the large display of each image. Just click on the style and size you want. I am very particular about using the highest quality materials that will provide a beautiful long lasting piece of art.
Displaying Photographic Artwork It is important that you display any fine art photography in a well-lit space. You are reviewing images on back-lit screens and if they are mounted and displayed in dimly lit areas, you could be disappointed in the result.
